Guralp Orcus

It is a real-time cabled OBS solution designed for deep-sea applications down to 6000 meters. The system can operate fully or partially buried on the seafloor and provides continuous and reliable seismic monitoring through its flexible communication infrastructure, modular sensor integration, and robust design built to withstand harsh marine conditions. Thanks to real-time data transmission, high-precision time synchronization, and its deep-sea deployment capability, it is developed for advanced seabed observation applications.

  • Suitable for deep-sea applications down to 6000 m / 19.685 ft
  • Capable of operating fully or partially buried on the seafloor
  • Compatible with communication architectures using either shore-cabled or buoy-cabled system designs
  • Integrated dual-sensor configuration supporting a 3-component broadband seismometer and Fortis accelerometer
  • Simultaneous monitoring of low-amplitude weak signals and high-intensity ground motions
  • Optional additional sensors such as absolute pressure sensor, hydrophone, current meter, and thermometer
  • Aluminum or titanium housing options
  • High corrosion resistance and sealing performance
  • Optional concrete dome design to reduce ambient noise and protect against mechanical impacts
  • On-site digitization of data and real-time continuous transmission to shore-based data centers
  • NTP or PTP-based time synchronization
  • Ability to integrate Ethernet-based external sensors into the same time synchronization infrastructure
  • Compatibility with various cabling systems including Ethernet and optical fiber
  • Continuous power supply with backup battery support
  • Crane-based deployment and ROV-assisted placement for deep-sea installations
  • Automatic leveling system ensuring reliable performance under harsh seafloor conditions
